The Children's Crossings and Road Safety Committee provides a consultative and decision-making forum for reviewing applications requesting children's crossings within 91¶ÌÊÓƵ.

It also reviews current children's crossings to ensure they continue to meet the warrant criteria, infrastructure and safety standards.
The committee is separated by applications members and policy members from various government bodies and independent organisations:

Applicants must be either the school principal, or president/secretary/chair of a recognised school/parent organisation. You are invited to apply for a Type A and/or Type B children's crossing.

In April 2024 Main Roads launched a new program to implement safe speed limits at all Children’s Crossings located outside school zones during school hours across WA by utilising Electronic Speed Limit Signs (ESLS) or static variable signs, depending on the posted speed of the road.

This important initiative aims to enhance safety for students and traffic wardens while encouraging active travel to school.
