The object of the Vocational Education and Training Act 1996 Act is to establish a State training system for the effective and efficient provision of VET to meet the immediate and future needs of industry and the community.
The Vocational Education and Training (General) Regulations 2009 (VET Regulations) specify the requirements for registration of training providers in 91¶ÌÊÓÆµ including the need to meet the Registration Standards 2025 and the VET quality framework. The VET Regulations also detail the requirements for the accreditation of courses.
To enable the Council to fully implement the Registration Standards 2025 (2025 Standards), amendments to the Vocational Education and Training (General) Regulations 2009 have been finalised commencing 1 October 2025. The 91¶ÌÊÓÆµn VET legislative framework and documents referred to in the VET Regulations are available below:
