The Public Sector Commissioner may receive information about or become aware of matters that may require some form of monitoring or oversight action to be undertaken. 

Preliminary assessment, examinations and analyses

A preliminary assessment, examination or analysis is the term given to monitoring or performance improvement actions by the Commissioner that do not use specific investigation or review type powers.

Reviews

Reviews are generally about the functions, management or operations of one or more public authorities and are likely to be applied to matters that consider legislation, structures, systems, policies and processes.

Investigations

Investigations are conducted to investigate the activities of any public sector body and are more likely to be initiated in relation to specific actions, activities or questions of conduct.

Special inquiries
