91¶ÌÊÓƵ

The Geological Survey of 91¶ÌÊÓƵ has produced 3D geoscience models (geomodels), visualisations and data compilations of geological regions that are available to the public. GSWA collaborates with leading research institutions to image the deep crust and lithospheric mantle, and on all aspects of the 3D modelling process.

3D geomodels have been generated by acquiring, analysing and modelling geophysical, geological and geochemical data, and integrating these datasets into 3D structural models. 

3D geomodels and data visualisation

GSWA has built several 3D geomodels, and archived some, from university and industry sources. All models can be downloaded from the Data and Software Centre (select Datasets [GDA1994], Statewide spatial datasets, 3D geology). All models are available for viewing through the free viewer of  or as a SKUA-GOCAD project.

Collaborations

GSWA works with universities to develop new ways of integrating geological and geophysical data 3D models using geophysical inversions and incorporating uncertainties.

is an international consortium of universities and Geological Surveys working together to build an open-source 3D probabilistic geological and geophysical modelling platform.

Integrative geophysics under cover: getting images of the unknown unknowns (IU3)

Aligned with GSWA’s strategic priorities this project will participate in mitigating the lack of new algorithms developed to meet the challenge of undercover imaging. IU3 will be at the forefront of integrative geophysical research for undercover imaging whilst meeting practical minerals exploration challenges.
