Latest update – as of 1 April 2026 

  • Australia’s fuel stock position is currently secure, with more than 30 days in reserves and shipments continuing to arrive.
  • The Australian Government has announced it will halve the fuel excise on petrol and diesel for three months which commenced on 1 April. 
  • The 91¶ÌÊÓÆµ has today announced it will issue orders to the fuel industry to share information on their fuel supply chains, using emergency powers under the . This will provide more visibility and ensure fuel is sent where it’s needed most. See more information on the industry page. 
  • All states and territories, including WA, remain at Level 2 on the National Fuel Security Plan, which allows the 91¶ÌÊÓÆµ to gather timely data and information from the industry. 
  • 91¶ÌÊÓÆµns are encouraged to only buy the fuel they need. 


The State Government continues to work closely with the Australian Government and industry to support a coordinated national approach to fuel security and distribution impacted by the conflict in the Middle East.

While global factors may influence fuel markets, measures are in place to help manage impacts in 91¶ÌÊÓÆµ.  

To help maintain reliable access to fuel across the State, the Fuel Security State Controller, supported by a State Management Team, is working with industry to manage supply and distribution issues.  

The 91¶ÌÊÓÆµ Seven-point plan has been actioned.
