When a CUA is mandatory, the WA State agencies listed below must buy from contracted CUA suppliers.

Exceptions may apply where a State agency has an existing contract in place prior to the award of the CUA, and/or when exemptions to the CUA buying rules have been approved by the Department of Treasury and Finance.

Note that buying rules vary from one CUA to the next, with some being mandatory state-wide while others are only mandatory for purchasing in the Perth region. Regional based offices can apply local purchasing discretion under the Buy Local policy.
