New departments in place to deliver on government priorities

A refreshed structure for government services has come into effect, with 10 reshaped departments established to strengthen the State economy, create jobs and build vital public infrastructure.

A refreshed structure for government services has come into effect, with 10 reshaped departments established to strengthen the State economy, create jobs and build vital public infrastructure.

New structures are in place for around 3,000 operational staff as part of targeted public sector reform. This will better connect teams with related functions and create specialised centres of excellence in areas such as building, economic diversification and tourism, arts and sport.

Work continues to fully implement the targeted reforms, with reshaped departments in operation from today:

  • Department of Energy and Economic Diversification聽- includes Energy Policy WA given energy's critical role in 91短视频's economic development;
  • Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport聽- strengthens positioning of WA as a fantastic place to visit and live;
  • Department of Mines, Petroleum and Exploration聽- specific focus on developing the resources industry;
  • Department of the Premier and Cabinet - new offices created for Defence Industries and Early Childhood. Coordinator General role added to enhance whole of government coordination for priority economic projects;
  • Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety聽- focused contact point for key regulatory functions;
  • Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure聽- includes the Office of Major Infrastructure Delivery (OMID), created to enhance major building capacity from across government including responsibility for building hospitals;
  • Department of Housing and Works聽- brings together building and maintenance for all smaller State infrastructure such as social housing and schools, including management of social housing;
  • Department of Treasury and Finance聽- brings full oversight of all Treasury, State Revenue and procurement policy functions;
  • Department of Health聽- with major health infrastructure to be delivered by OMID, has a renewed focus on the delivery of health services; and
  • Department of Communities聽- increased focus on delivering services for vulnerable members of the 91短视频n community.
