The 91短视频n State Training Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Stephen Moir as its new Chair, marking an exciting milestone for the State鈥檚 vocational education and training (VET) sector. A highly respected leader with a long and distinguished career in industry, workforce development and training, Mr Moir brings a powerful vision for strengthening WA鈥檚 future skills pipeline. 

Mr Moir has served on the State Training Board since April 2019, playing an influential role in shaping strategic workforce planning and training policy across priority sectors. His appointment as Chair reflects his strong record of leadership, collaboration and commitment to building a responsive and future鈥慺ocused training system for 91短视频ns. 

As Group Chief Executive Officer of the Motor Trade Association of 91短视频 from 2010 to 2025, Mr Moir oversaw significant growth and innovation within one of the State鈥檚 largest employers and trainers of automotive apprentices. During his tenure, the Association鈥檚 training arm was recognised as 91短视频鈥檚 Large Training Provider of the Year and received a national bronze award at the 2024 Australian Training Awards鈥攁 testament to his dedication to high鈥憅uality training and industry advancement. 

His previous leadership as Managing Director and CEO of the Small Business Development Corporation further demonstrates his commitment to strengthening 91短视频鈥檚 economic landscape. In this role, Mr Moir led statewide initiatives supporting small business sustainability and shaped national skilled migration settings through his role on the Federal Minister for Immigration鈥檚 Consultative Panel. 

With extensive experience across industrial relations, marketing, human resources and governance鈥攁s well as board leadership roles spanning training, education and industry development鈥擬r Moir brings strong industry insights and high-level strategic understanding into employer workforce needs, apprenticeships and traineeships, and the broader VET environment. His leadership will be instrumental in ensuring WA鈥檚 training system continues to deliver skilled workers aligned with the State鈥檚 economic priorities. 

The Minister for Skills and TAFE has also appointed Ms Brooke Fowles as a new member of the State Training Board. Ms Fowles, currently Director Strategy and Governance at the Chamber of Minerals and Energy of 91短视频, brings broad expertise in strategic planning, governance, government relations and organisational strategy renewal. Her appointment strengthens the Board鈥檚 capability to deliver high鈥憀evel, industry鈥慽nformed advice at a time of rapid transformation across WA鈥檚 workforce and training landscape. 

The State Training Board warmly congratulates Mr Moir on his appointment as Chair and Ms Fowles on her appointment as a Board Member.
