Kalgoorlie Police, with the assistance of Kalgoorlie Detectives, have charged a man following an investigation into alleged drug activity at a home in Somerville on Tuesday, 14 April 2026.
About 8.35pm, police executed a search warrant at a property on Genovese Way, where it is alleged several rooms inside the home had been converted for the purpose of growing hydroponic cannabis.
Western Power attended the address after officers identified the electrical supply had allegedly been unlawfully bypassed. A number of electrical hazards were required to be rendered safe before officers could enter and search the property.
Police will allege more than 350 cannabis plants, and more than half a kilogram of cannabis plant material was located and seized.
A 53-year-old man from Somerville has been charged with:
1 x Cultivate a Prohibited Plant with Intent to Sell or Supply
1 x Possession of Prohibited Drugs with Intent to Sell or Supply (Cannabis)
The man appeared before the Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court yesterday where he was granted bail. He is next due to appear on Monday, 25 May 2026.
