The State Government has announced a $31.8 million funding boost package as part of its continued commitment to ensuring that foster and family carers receive the support they need while they give their time and expertise to children and young people in need of care.

The package includes a 10 per cent subsidy rate increase for all WA foster and family carers. In addition, existing support services for family carers will also be expanded statewide, ensuring all regional family carer households are appropriately supported.

Alongside this, the Department of Communities has launched a new Who Pays in WA? guide to provide foster and family carers an overview of financial supports they can access while caring for children and young people.

The guide was developed in partnership with sector stakeholders and is designed to be a central source of information for carers that will be updated as new financial supports become available.
